Strangers

A gentle week, mostly.

Clothes shopping was worse, not better. I sat in the car afterwards for twenty minutes.

A hard month when a colleague commented.

Somebody said I looked well and it landed like an indictment of every year before.

I liked my body before, actually, and I resent the assumption that I could not have.

The mirror shows me what it has always shown me. Nothing about that has shifted and I had half assumed it would.

Grateful. Odd, that.
